Juan Ramón Jiménez – Todas Las Nubes Arden

Todas las nubes arden
porque yo te he encontrado,
dios deseante y deseado;
antorchas altas cárdenas
(granas, azules, rojas, amarillas)
en alto grito de rumor de luz.

Del redondo horizonte vienen todas
en congregación fúljida,
a abrazarse con vueltas de esperanza
a mi fe respondida.

(Mar desierto, con dios
en redonda conciencia
que me habla y me canta,
que me confía y me asegura;
por ti yo paso en pie
alerta, en mí afirmado,
conforme con que mi viaje
el al hombre seguido, que me espera
en puerto de llegada permanente,
de encuentro repetido).

Todas las nubes que existieron,
que existen y que existirán
me rodean con signos de evidencia;
ellas son para mí
la afirmación alzada de este hondo
fondo de aire en que yo vivo;

Juan Ramón Jiménez Poetry and poems

All the clouds are burning

All the clouds are burning
because I found you,
god desiring and desired;
tall purple torches
(scarlet, blue, red, yellow)
in a high scream of the sound of light.

They all come from the round horizon
in shining congregation,
to embrace each other with a return of hope
to my answered faith.

(Abandoned sea with god
in rounded consciousness
speaking and singing to me,
who trusts me and reassures me;
I pass over you with a vigilant
foot placed on myself,
agreeing that my journey
follows the man pursued, who waits for me
at a permanent port of arrival,
of repeated encounters.)

All the clouds that were,
that are, that will be,
surround me with signs;
they are to me
the high affirmation of this deep
depth of air within which I live;
the true climb of climbing,
the climb of the discovery made in the highest depth.

y a esta luz ves, venida de otro astro;

en un llegar carmín de vida renovada;
conmigo niño, joven, mayor, y yo me ahogaba

I am animal of depth

“Upon a depth of air” (I said) “I am”
(I said), “I am animal of depth of air” (upon the earth),
now upon the sea; crossing, like the air, through a sun
that is red hot coal up there, my outside, and it lights up
with its hot coals the second fated space

You, god, are also in this depth
and you see by this light coming from another star;
and you are here and are
the great and the small that I am,
in the exact proportion that is my own,
infinite towards the depth,
the sacred well of myself.

You were here before in this well
with the flower, the swallow, the bull
and the water; with the dawn
in a crimson arrival of renewed life;
with the setting sun in a flight of heavenly gold.
In this daily well you were with me,
with me as a child, young, old, and I was drowning
not knowing you, drowning not thinking of you.
This well, by itself, was no more and no less
than the center of the earth and of life.

You were in the magic well the fate
of all the fates of the beautiful sensuality
that knows that pleasure is plenitude
of loving consciousness,
the greatest virtue that transcends us.

You were so to make me think that you were you,
to make me feel that I was you,
to make me enjoy your being me,
to make me shout that I was I
upon the depth of the air I am standing on,
where I am animal of the depth of air
with wings that do not fly in the air,
but fly in the light of consciousness,
larger than any dreams of eternities and infinities
that arrive, with no more than I have now, later than the air.
